Bridgestone Tech Center & Parking Deck
Bridgestone Americas Technology Center & Campus Parking Deck
When plans for construction of Bridgestone Americas’ $100 million, 450-worker Research and Technology Center was announced in 2008, Akron Rebar Company was ready to contribute and successfully bid on the reinforcement steel necessary to build this significant facility in the heart of Rubber City.
Completed in 2012, the 265,000 square foot, four-story office building is organized into two main function workspaces: research/testing labs and advanced engineering/corporate offices with a central glass enclosed atrium as the core connection space. It also features food services, a Health & Wellness center and locker room.
430 tons of rebar were required in the foundations, which we both fabricated and placed under contract to Givens Construction, with another 55 tons of rebar supplied by us for the masonry.
GARAGE
The Technical Center is connected by a pedestrian walkway with the post-tensioned slab parking garage featuring over 400 parking spaces. Akron Rebar Company fabricated and installed the 330 tons of rebar to this specialized structural component of the parking structure.
